Abstract

The 23rd edition of Encuentros continues the debate on the dossier we have called “Art and the socio-educational context: a symbiotic relationship.” Concern about education, pedagogy and socio-educational policies in Latin America grows as the culture of globalization and universalism is consolidated through artificial intelligence. That is why, despite the excessive advance of techno-scientific education, the defense of an education that preserves and defends the human condition is an intellectual task still pending. Citizen discussion on the global crisis, the 2030 agenda and human rights is unavoidable in the face of the conception of a mechanical education that threatens institutions and liberal States with educational programs that are increasingly distant from the dialogical and intercultural nature of education. The space for citizen training and for subjects with social qualities and critical thinking is the educational space. Hence, the challenge of sustaining educational practices with an intersubjective perspective is pertinent for the editorial team of Encuentros. The Dossier section, which continues the debates of the previous issue on art and socio-educational spaces, brings together theoretical experiences that focus on the development of projects, methodologies and policies for the preservation of art and culture at different levels of education and in various artistic practices. The Articles section also delves into global disputes in areas such as human rights, climate change, the digital age and the needs of university and/or higher education. The Research section has a plurality of multidisciplinary scientific works that delve into problems of the social reality of different regions of the world. Institutional corruption, gender violence, artificial intelligence, among other topics, are developed from a critical and scientific perspective. Finally, a review of a fundamental book for understanding child migration in a Chilean commune. Encuentros, as an editorial and critical discussion project, aims in this new half of the twenties to continue contributing to open access scientific production that redefines critical and intercultural thought in Latin America and the Caribbean, being a proposed space for reflection on the threat of global thought to intercultural coexistence and the preservation of the cultural and civic memory of the peoples of the region.
