WhatsApp, a digital resource for educational purposes that contributes to the development of oral expression in students

The development of oral expression in students of the first cycle of Higher Education is deficient when building knowledge and presenting their ideas. The objective of the study is aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of the use of WhatsApp, as a didactic resource that affects the acquisition of knowledge and oral expression in first-cycle students of a Higher Education Institute in Lima-Peru. The population selected by non-probabilistic sampling is made up of 28 students and four teachers who are in charge of teaching. The selection was made considering that these students generally use WhatsApp on a regular basis and that their use in classes is well oriented, they are able to understand the objective of their learning and evaluate the evolution of their skills through participatory and metacognitive activities. Statistical analysis was based on the input diagnosis and the output diagnosis from the application of the strategy using the digital medium in class sessions. The results show that WhatsApp influences the motivation for learning, communication and the development of oral expression as an identified problem. It is concluded that the WhatsApp used as a didactic medium in the class is a mobile learning technological resource that influences the ways of thinking when building knowledge and the oral expression skills of the students taken as a sample.
