Genealogy of governmentality: The construction of the other in the begin- nings of modernity

This paper seeks to reveal the lines of a genealogy that compromises the State of Nature with the construction that is made from the power over the Other. The first hundred years of colonization are crucial. From this point on, the political, theological and epistemic bases were established. In this one the original inhabitant and his offspring are guilty of their own misery. The State of Nature is approached as its first political construction. Later the settlement of the Christian regime in America is identified and its patent appropriation. Their command lines will be described and finally the command narratives and their euphemisms will be explained. It is concluded that the primary function of the govern-mentality is the construction and conduction of the one who is placed by the power outside the normal margins of the life in society. Then, it seeks to alter its behavior by using a set of naturalized or power-legitimized strategies.
