Editorial Policies
FOCUS AND SCOPE:
Encounters. Journal of Human Sciences, Social Theory and Critical Thinking is a journal founded by the Center for Geo-Historical and Socio-Cultural Studies of the Rafael María Baralt National Experimental University and currently edited by the Center for Latin American Studies in Political and Social Transformations Foundation. (https://www.celat.org.ve/). Its publication is online and since May 2023 it has been published every four months.
The aim of the journal is to spread the research and reflections that are made from the humanities and social sciences on critical, counter-hegemonic and sub-alternate thinking. The journal is considered as a very wide academic space where contemporary social problems are approached from different areas of study such as Philosophy, History, Education, Political Science, Anthropology and Sociology. Academic articles are published that address the aforementioned topics, but also essays, research advances, book reviews and interviews of interest to academics with relevant contributions in the areas of the journal. All collaborations are evaluated by a Referee Committee.
The journal is aimed at the academic and scientific community of the human and social sciences of Venezuela and Latin America and at those who are interested in delving deeper into the topics, debates and experiences that are the protagonists of our regions, subjects and their socio-cultural transformations.

Encuentros. Journal of Human Sciences, Social Theory and Critical Thinking is a quarterly journal (since 2023). It is published three times a year electronically. Its publication is carried out comprising the months of January-April, May-August and September-December. OPEN ACCESS POLICIES
This journal provides open access to its content, based on the principle that offering the public free access to research helps to further global knowledge exchange. In this sense, all publications of Encounters. Journal of Human Sciences, Social Theory and Critical Thinking are free of fees or some economic cost.
COPYRIGHT NOTICE:
The authors maintain the rights to the articles and are therefore free to share, copy, distribute, execute and communicate publicly. All the content of the journal will be freely accessible, distributed under the Creative Commons license (BY-NC-SA)

EVALUATION PROCESS BY COUPLE
All works will be evaluated by a Committee of Arbitrators made up of members of the Editorial Committee and specialists of recognized prestige, under the modality of double-blind, selected by the Editorial Committee of the journal, external to the National Experimental University “Rafael María Baralt " The proposed works must be original, unpublished and may not be submitted simultaneously to the evaluation and arbitration process in another journal. The originals of the proposed items will not be returned.
The evaluation of the arbitrators will be carried out by means of the procedure known as double blind: the arbitrators and the authors will not know their respective identities. The evaluation criteria are as follows:
a.- Formal or presentation criteria: 1) originality, relevance and adequate extension of the title; 2) clarity and coherence of speech; 3) adequate preparation of the summary; 4) internal organization of the text; 5) all other criteria established in this regulation.
b.- Content criteria: 1) mastery of evidenced knowledge; 2) scientific rigor; 3) theoretical and methodological foundation; 4) news and relevance of the sources consulted; 5) contributions to existing knowledge.
Once received, the works follow the following process: a) initially, the manuscript is acknowledged via email; b) then, the Editorial Committee carries out a preliminary evaluation to determine if it complies with the Norms for the presentation of works; If it complies, it goes to arbitration, a process in which qualified specialists evaluate the work according to criteria of relevance, originality, contributions and scientific and academic virtue, previously established by Encounters. Journal of Human Sciences, Social Theory and Critical Thought and issue a verdict on the publication or not of the work, which will consist of: b-1) Publicable. b-2) Publicable with slight modifications, which involve those of form and style, in order to adapt the formal or presentation criteria of the journal. b-3) Publicable with substantial modifications, which imply those of the background and construction of the manuscript, in order to adapt to the content criteria of the journal. b-4) Not publishable. c) if the work does not meet the minimum criteria present in these rules, the Editorial Board will propose that it not be sent to the arbitration process; d) in any case, the author or authors will be notified, in writing, of the decision.
The authors will have a maximum of twenty one (21) days to send the modifications to the Editorial Committee to the following addresses: revistaencuentrosve@gmail.com. If these corrections are not sent within the established period, selflessness is assumed by the authors of not publishing their work in Encounters. Journal of Human Sciences, Social Theory and Critical Thinking. In the event that the author (s) decide not to publish their work, they must submit a communication in which they make clear the non-publication of the material sent in the journal.
CODE OF ETHICS AND GOOD PRACTICES
This code was developed based on the Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (http://publicationethics.org/files/u2/Best_Practice.pdf), of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), internationally recognized.
