This scientific article delves into the concept of "critical thinking" using a comprehensive bibliographic and hermeneutic analysis. It examines three related movements in this area and incorporates perspectives from leading authors in the Critical Thinking Movement. Subsequently, an operational definition is proposed, encompassing aspects of consensus and criticism from these authors, with the ultimate goal of its application in educational contexts. Furthermore, the significance of fostering critical thinking within society is emphasized, and potential areas for future research within this domain are suggested. Overall, this article provides a profound and pragmatic comprehension of critical thinking, furnishing a robust groundwork for its effective implementation across diverse educational and social environments.
