Ethics, Science and Research: The Role of the Researcher in the Current Context.

Abstract

This paper, developed under a hermeneutic-documentary approach, aims to reflect on the existing link between ethics, science and research in the current context. Although it is recognized that it is a topic that is not typical of the 21st century, its concepts, problems and topics addressed do not lose validity, but are a challenge for cross-cutting discussion in social sciences, philosophy, natural sciences, bioethics, among other disciplines. By virtue of the foregoing, the research focuses its interest on the following fundamental questions: 1. The relationship between ethics and science, considering science as an activity aimed at human progress and ethics as a philosophical discipline that evaluates human actions in specific contexts. 2. The ethical principles of research, which advocate integrity, respect, beneficence and justice in scientific research processes, which guarantees that it is oriented towards the common good. 3. The ethics of the researcher, which recognizes the fundamental role of the researcher within society, given that the products developed affect various environments, and may be beneficial or harmful to society. It concludes on the relevance of ethics for the conduct of scientific research and the researcher, insofar as its determinations allow the permanence of values ??appropriate to social demands.
