The university education has an artistic condition: the search for the truth of things. The germs of this human activity are found in Western monasticism and in the early universities of the Middle Ages. However, modernity and postmodernity have affected that art. It could be said that the university is becoming a highly qualified professional school, a prelude to the world of work, a place of acquisition of profitable, effective, and efficient knowledge. The objective of this work is twofold: to investigate the artistic sources of university education; and present situations that should be corrected to safeguard these sources. To achieve this, the bibliographic review has been used. First goes through the monastery and the legacy it has left in university education. After, we present the ways of thinking that threaten university art are addressed; and finally, we dedicate to the conclusions.
