Adolescents: A study on the phenomenon in the periphery of a Latin American city with high rates of violence.

The objective of this research article was to analyze the relationship between bullying and students' self-esteem. In this stage of development where they continually experience experiences that involve disruptive behaviors, making the dynamics between peers difficult. This study responded to a quantitative approach, due to the respective collection of information, descriptive in relation to the criteria of the problem and correlational where the inferential incidence between the analysis variables was evident. The sample was made up of 385 adolescents from educational institutions in the Miracle canton. The instruments applied were the School Bullying Scale (AVE) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. The results obtained indicated, using Spearman's method, that there is a statistically significant relationship between the criteria associated with harassment and levels of self-esteem. It is important to mention that the interest of this study is because at the national and local level it is evident that students have a considerable increase in AE, both the person who is violated and the one who generates bullying, this is due to individual factors and their context. , seeing its effects also in other considerable aspects such as their academic performance.
