This article analyzes, through a review of the scientific literature, how the relationship between fertility and education has been addressed in Colombia and other regions of the world between 2000 and 2025. The theoretical framework is based on the Demographic Transition Theory. The literature shows a sustained reduction in the birth rate, which has led to a decrease in the school-age population. It uses a descriptive-interpretive methodological approach, based on official sources such as the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), the Ministry of Education, and journals indexed in databases such as Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), and Redalyc. The literature identifies causes such as: closing the gender gap in education, achieving parity between men and women, delayed motherhood, religious beliefs or dogmas, and the implementation of public policies.
