The article aims to analyze the role of the university in the transformation processes of Latin American society. Under these arguments, the research focuses its interest on three fundamental aspects: 1. The ethical commitment of the university with research, with the universalization of knowledge and the construction of knowledge under standards of responsibility, integrity, in accordance with national and international regulations. international, so that a human vision is maintained in the investigation. 2. It questions the role of the university, conditioned by globalization and the interests of the State, which has led to its massification and to measure its quality according to the number of graduates, leaving aside research with social relevance. 3. It raises the urgency of social transformation, which implies the internal transformation of the university, of thinking about the collective benefit, in the development of students as citizens destined to promote social progress. It is concluded on the relevance of breaking with the paradigm of massification, inviting students to train for social integration, to promote research, to listen to communities, leading to teaching being an implicit quality of the investigative act, a way of disseminating. and universalize knowledge.
